What makes it special?

A SKILL-BASED CARD GAME

You get the accessibility of all the card games you love, but combined with the competitive nature and depth of Chess. There's very little luck involved. Everything will come down to who made the better decision.

 

UNIQUE "BOARD DRAFTING" GAMEPLAY

Instead of holding a hand of cards, everything happens right on the board. Both players compete for the same deck and the same selection of sellswords and try to assemble stronger combinations of cards than their opponent.

 

VARIETY AND DIVERSITY

There are many different sellsword characters in the game, each featuring their own unique artwork and special ability! Every match will differ from the one before and you will have to plan out your strategy on the fly each time.

 

DECISIONS FIRST

The choices you make during a match are what determines your success! The outcome of the game does not depend on who has the "bigger collection" and there are no good or bad pre-determined matchups!

Design Philosophy

While we love games like Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone and Gwent, we also see some flaws in them. We think we can do better when it comes to delivering a truly skill-based, yet fast-paced and accessible head-to-head challenge.

 

Specifically, our design goals were:

  • emphasizing strengths while minimizing weaknesses of comparable games
  • providing intense and short 1v1 matches
  • building the game around an elegant core system
  • offering truly skill-based gameplay with luck playing a very minor role
  • using fair randomness to make every match feel different from the previous one
  • creating level playing fields with no private card collections or pre-constructed decks
